Pizza Tower is a 2023 platform game. Tour De Pizza independently developed it. That was available for Windows and the Steam Deck only through the Steam store. In order to save his pizzeria, Peppino Spaghetti, a pizza chef, must navigate the game’s namesake tower. The gameplay focuses on raising score, keeping combos going, collecting items, and moving quickly. A variety of moves and attacks are useful to accomplish these goals. The player starts an escape sequence at the end of each level, which forces them to race back to the beginning of the level. Unlike the majority of other platform games, the player has no health or lives during normal gameplay. And there are no standard game difficulty levels; instead, the difficulty of most levels depends on the player’s performance. Pizza Tower’s design takes heavy inspiration from entertainment during the 1990s, especially the fourth generation of video game consoles. The game’s elements and mechanics followed the Wario Land, Jazz Jackrabbit, Earthworm Jim, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Metroid video game series.
